A Little History Behind Levi's 501 Jeans
Levi's 501 jeans are actually the original jeans by Mr. Levi Strauss. In 1890, 501 was the first lot number that was ever attached to Levi jeans. In the beginning the jeans were geared towards farmers and ranchers. Then around 1940, Mr. Strauss decided to start marketing to the youth after WWII and his jeans started to spread across the whole country.
In the beginning jeans were looked at as rebellious since it was teens and young men who started wearing them more and more. But, by the late 1960's just about any teen or young man had at least one pair of 501 jeans.
This is why 501 jeans are still so popular today. They are the classic jeans that basically made wearing jeans an ordinary occurrence. Over the years, Levi's has only made improvements on the jeans but continue to keep the classic style of the straight leg and the button fly.
